This defensive handgun marksmanship course is designed with shot placement completely in mind! Shooting a firearm is easy and “anyone” can do it; now getting the bullets to hit your point of aim is a different issue for most people. In this course, you will be taught to place your shots were you want and need them to go for maximizing your “stopping power”.
Shooting a firearm with good shot placement is a perishable skill; continued proficiency in shooting a firearm is a must. Go to a range and look at other peoples targets, the shot placement will vary greatly and you will be able to see a couple of things. Like, who maintains proficiency and who does not. Also, who trains with proper techniques and who does not. You will also see those who cannot read their target and make adjustments based on their shooting performance.
You will go through several different drills here to promote better marksmanship in ways that you would in a defensive incident.
Each exercise will be explained as to why it is being done and how it will help you from a defensive standpoint. The following exercises you can do on your own too, but more than likely you will not be allowed to do these on standard ranges.
You probably bought your firearm for personal defense. You should train in ways that will allow you to better your chances of surviving a deadly encounter.
We will get you started on the right path!!!!!
This class will be “Current”, “Relevant” & “Realistic” to what you would use in a real world.
Firearms training is dangerous, ALWAYS pay attention to what you are doing, who’s around you, what’s beyond and/or around your target and where your muzzle is pointed! The same set of rules is used in real life and death incidents too. Train hard, train often and train with quality!
THIS COURSE IS FOR ANY HANDGUN OWNER THAT HAS THE FUNDAMENTAL BASICS ALREADY. IT IS ALSO GREAT FOR THE SHOOTER THAT WANTS TO DO REMEDIAL TRAINING!
2018 - #0032
The following subjects are covered:
The class will teach you the 4 tiers of "Marksmanship", "Weapons Manipulation" & "Tactics"!
The class involves shooting and movement together.
Sight Alignment Overview - You should have this mastered already, but we will go over it briefly as a refresher! This is the first step in being able to hit you intended target!
2 Hand shooting Overview - You should also have this mastered already, but we will go over it briefly as a refresher!. This will prevent thumb injuries and assist in better shot placement.
Strong Hand Shooting - Shooting one handed is a valuable fundamental, you may have to use the other hand for various other reasons (example: moving/protecting a family member).
Support Hand Shooting - Support hand shooting is another valuable fundamental, you strong hand may receive an injury or you may very well need to use your strong hand to fight off an attacker and use the left hand to shoot with!
Shooting Accuracy- Combat accuracy is the best shooting technique for most life/death situations. Remember, most attack's occur in the 6 or 7 foot range.
Moving While Shooting - When a deadly force incident occurs and a firearm is needed, the main idea is not to get shot while returning fire. Moving while shooting is important, because moving targets are harder to hit. You will also be moving to some sort of cover/concealment (safety), or moving to protect a loved one! Moving while shooting is NOT as easy as it sounds.
Barricade Shooting - Barricade shooting will show you how to keep from exposing to much of your body from behind a barricade/corner. The smaller the target, the harder it is too hit, we will show you how to minimize yourself as a target.
Holster Work - Drawing and shooting from a holstered position!
Non-Standing Positions - Kneeling, Prone (laying on your stomach) and on your back.
You will use the "T" scoring area (see photo for this area location, target genders will vary) in our custom targets for this course. This is the area that will have a better affect on stopping a person that is committed to their actions (deadly force).
